Pain Relief

There have been many clinical trials on the use of acupuncture for pain relief. TCM looks at pain as a blockage in the meridians. This can be caused by trauma resulting in blood and Qi stagnation. Damp is a very common cause in Ireland with our rainy weather and our diet of lots of dairy and wheat. This type of pain is commonly called Arthritis and can be hot or cold. There is quite a lot, acupuncture and herbs can do to help, especially if the problem is caught before deformities appear in the joints.

Acupuncture and Moxa for Effective Pain Relief

One of my first real experience with pain was in 1996 shortly after I qualified. A girl was referred to me by a relative, her name was Sonya McGinn. She said she played badminton and looked like she would have to give it up due to knee problems. I worked twice a week on her and as the article said it started to help almost immediately. I had no idea she was Ireland’s No.1 women’s badminton player! She continued to play for several years and represented us in the Olympics. It was really amazing for me as a newly qualified practitioner to see what could actually be achieved with a few needles and a herb called moxa.
